At Marvin Architectural only the highest quality materials are used and all products are subjected to the most rigorous standards before they ever leave the shipping dock. Which is why when Luling International undertook the historic refurbishment of the Park Lane apartments in London, they came to Marvin Architectural.

The client wished to retain the building’s traditional look whilst reducing the heat loss and sound transfer. The existing windows were a double window set up i.e. a box sash window within a box sash window. These were like this in order to provide an acoustic solution however they were not sympathetic to the character of the building. The building is in a conservation area therefore any changes to the face of the building including the replacement of windows had to be approved by the local council and conservation officer.
The fact that the building is situated in Central London posed another obstacle as the window supplier undertaking this project would have to co-ordinate deliveries very carefully. The project was very competitive and was ultimately awarded to Marvin Architectural following careful examination of competitors products and specifications.

Marvin Architectural proposed to replace the client’s double window set up with Marvin’s double glazed Solid Wood Sliding Sash Window Range. These were offered with Victorian 6/6 glazing bar style and factory finished in white internally and externally to replicate the original style of the building. Particular attention was paid to the surrounding stone work in order to ensure an uncompromising fit and finish.

In order to get the proposed window replacement solution approved. Marvin Architectural met with the local planning officers and produced a number of architectural drawings and sample windows for viewing.

Following Marvin Architectural’s meetings with the conservation officers Marvin Windows and Doors was approved for the historical refurbishment of this project and was also put onto the authorised suppliers list for the London Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.
