Marvin Windows and Doors - Built around you.

Mullagh

This residence was originally constructed in 1994 in the style of a hunting lodge. The brief to the architect was to design a home that fitted into the landscape and took advantage of orientation and views.

The house was extended in 2002 to create more recreational space, another bedroom and a mezzanine to capture the dramatic views of the mountains. To maximise on natural light and heat a wall of glass extending into the apex of the roof was installed on the Southerly side of the house.

A dramatic feature of the house is the diamond shaped bay window on the ground and the first floors, the latter providing panoramic views of the mountains.

The clients choose Marvin Windows and Doors because they wanted the benefits of a composite product i.e. clear blemish free pine on the inside and cladding on the outside providing a minimum maintenance exterior. The pebble grey colour of the cladding also added a sophisticated feel to the exterior of this uncompromising modern design. Also, the flexibility of the Marvin product allowed for the combination of polygon, casemaster, awning and French Doors in the glazed wall section but importantly maintained consistent sight lines throughout.

The clients were able to choose from the nearest Marvin standard size range and match it to their architect's specifications.

The clients were very happy with the outcome: "We are magnetically drawn to the new space because of the feeling of light and space even on the dullest of days. The view provided to the garden outside means we can enjoy the feeling of being outdoors while sitting in the comfort of the room. The Low-E glazing keeps the space warm on the cold days and prevents too much build up of heat on the hotter days. The Marvin Architectural installation team were skilled and professional when it came to the installation and did a fantastic job overall."
